1.What is upgrade by auction?
The upgrade by auction is an opportunity to know the Avianca Business Class experience and comfort. To be eligible for this opportunity, your ticket must be issued in economy class for a flight operated with business class available. To be eligible, the passenger’s booking should not include a pet in cabin service and infants (from 0 to 2 years). Check-in prior acceptance of the offer may also lead to refusal the upgrade.
2.How does it work?
If your ticket is eligible, you will receive an invitation email giving you the instructions and ability to tell how much you are willing to pay for the upgrade offered. Is also possible to check the eligibility through the Avianca’s website https://www.avianca.com.br/en/web/home/upgradedecabine#upgrade with your booking reference and surname.
After the eligibility check there is a dynamic chart showing the bid acceptance possibilities according to the offered value.
Red bar - weak supply: very unlikely to get an upgrade;
Yellow bar - offer below previous successful offers: unlikely to be upgraded;
Green bar - offer is in the range of successful previous offers - moderate odds;
Dark green bar - good deal: high chance of getting an upgrade - not guaranteed;
Once you bid an amount, a payment page will be made available, and this bid becomes official once all the steps have been completed.
The highest bids will be accepted and confirmed near from flight departure time and date according to business cabin availability and the airline policy. The bids are confidential.
3. What are the benefits in participating the auction and be upgraded?
You have additional baggage allowance, priority check-in and priority boarding (if available in the airport). You also will enjoy the fully flat seats, a sophisticated gastronomy experience and lounge acces (if available in the airport).
4. Could I offer any value?
Is not possible to offer a value outside the pre-defined range.
5. Is it possible to choose different values for each flight/route?
Yes, a different amount could be offered for each flight section.
6. I want to make an offer only for one flight of my itinerary. Is it allowed?
Yes. If you have a round trip itinerary or a itinerary with more than one eligible flight you could make a non-value offer for one of the flights that means you will not participate for auction.
7. My itinerary has an eligible flight in connection with a flight without business class (domestic or not). Could I make a bid in this case?
Yes. The flights without business class cabin will be displayed as unavailable to receive offers.
8. How to know if my bid was not accepted?
If your bid is not chosen, an e-mail with this information will be sent up to 12 hours before the flight. Your ticket will remais as before.
9. My bid was not accepted. Could I bid again for this same flight?
Is not possible to re-bid for this same flight.
10. Could I cancel my offer?
Yes, it is possible to cancel the offer with up to 26 hours before the flight if it was not accepted yet.
11. I accidentally canceled my offer but I would like to participate again in this auction. Is it possible?
Yes. Please access the email sent with the auction invitation or access the Avianca’s website and make a bid again.
12. Could I update my previous offer?
Yes. You could change the offer amount until 26 hour prior departure if the bid was not accepted yet.
13. How long do I know that my bid has been accepted?
Until 12 hours before your trip, you will receive an email informing you about the bid acceptance and confirmation for your upgrade to business class.
14. Once my bid is accepted do I need to make the payment?
No, once your credit card data is inserted at the bidding event, the amount will automatically be debited from your card.
15. When my credit card will be charged?
A fund validation could occurs after you bid submission however this transaction will immediately reversed. The credit card will be truly charged only after the offer acceptance at the end of the auction. You will be notified by the confirmation e-mail.
16. Could I split the payment in my credit card?
Bids are debited in a single installment.
17. Could I pay my bid with debit card or bank slip?
The accepted form of payment for the auction upgrade is credit card only.
18. What happens if my credit card is restricted or there is insufficient funds during the offer confirmation?
An information e-mail will be sent asking to update the payment information. If it is not done until the end of auction, you offer will expire.
19. I am traveling with more people on the same reservation. Could everyone be upgraded?
The bid is made in a reservation level, meaning all those who are on the reservation will be given the opportunity to upgrade to business class. Is not be possible to select only one passenger from this reservation.
20. I am travelling in a group and I would like to make an offer only for me. Is it possible?
Yes. You should be splitted from the same booking reference from the others. It could be done via customer service of the related purchase channel.
21. My ticket was paid with miles. Am I able to perform an offer?
22. If I confirm my upgrade could I carry extra luggage?
The baggage allowance accepted becomes business class. Check here the baggage policy according the route.
23. I received the upgrade confirmation. How do I choose my seat?
The seats could be chosen at the check-in time.
24. What happens with my booking reference and ticket number after I am upgraded?
Nothing. All numbers and codes remains the same.
25. Do I need to pay any additional fees to proceed with my bid?
The amount value offered will be all you should pay for that. No additional fee is charged by Avianca. Some credit card tax could be added depending on the kind of transaction and your credit card/bank policy.
26. A person I know received the invitation e-mail to upgrade and I did not. Why?
Remember to check the spam box and be sure you included the personal e-mail information in the booking. In some cases the e-mails were not send for eligibility reasons like:
Be aware that even if the invitation e-mail is not received, the eligibility check could be done at Avianca’s website.
27. Do the applicable rules from my original ticket also applies after the upgrade?
Penalties, cancellations, refunds, earned miles will follow the same rules from your original ticket in economy cabin.
28. I need to cancel my trip but I have already received the upgrade confirmation. How could I proceed?
If you already received the upgrade confirmation, it is not possible to refund or exchange it. Please check the original ticket cancelation policy for more information.
29. If I exchange my itinerary and I already have a confirmed upgrade, is the upgrade exchanged to my new itinerary together?
The upgrade is non exchangeable and non refundable. You could perform a new offer in the new segment if available.
30. Could I transfer my upgrade to other flight?
The upgrade is personal and could not be transferred.
31. In my original ticket I had requested a special meal. Will this meal be retained if my upgrade is confirmed?
The services requested on your original ticket should be requested again, once the upgrade has been confirmed.
32. How to proceed if a flight when I am upgraded is canceled?
Avianca will try to transfer you for a business class cabin however if not possible/available you will be replaced in the economy class and will receives back the total amount paid in the upgrade process.
It will be possible to make an offer for the upgrade, for those flights that have an executive cabin and are operated only by Avianca Brasil (Oceanair Linhas Aéreas).
Not applicable for flights by Star Alliance airlines and / or partner airlines.
The upgrade offer is valid once it is made through the Avianca.com.br site or the e-mail received requesting you to make an offer. The upgrade access will only be provided for an executive cabin for flights exclusively operated by Avianca Brasil.
As a benefit, after acceptance of the offer, by the airline, the passenger can count on priority boarding, access to VIP room and baggage allowance corresponding to executive cabin.
The accumulation of additional points is not considered and will only be counted the points related to the purchase of the ticket in economic booth.
The possibility of upgrading is offered for as long as the service is available under conditions established to carry it out. Once confirmed the upgrade will be valid only for that flight in which it was purchased.
The upgrade will be available to passengers whose route is international and have executive cabin on their flights.
The offer for an executive cabin upgrade may occur once the passenger has a ticket issued on an international flight in economy class and whose flight has business class available.
It is possible to make an offer to the executive cabin with up to 24 hours before the flight.After this time the auction option is closed.
The accepted form of payment is credit card only. Passenger must enter credit card details at the time of bidding. These data will be used only for the purpose of upgrading to Avianca's business class and will be used only when the bid is accepted, that is, until the At the moment of acceptance the passenger will not be charged on their card. Any other form of payment for this medium is abolished. In case of insufficient credit or card expired the offer is automatically disregarded.
The currencies accepted for the bid are: Dolár Americado, Chilean Peso, Colombian Peso and Reais. A purchase made in Brazil, with currency of another country is subject to the exchange rate charges.
Bid modifications and cancellations are possible up to 24 hours before the flight.
Confirmation of acceptance of the offer will occur through e-mail between 24 and 12 hours before the flight. The correspondence e-mail will be the one in which the passenger informs on the act of the reservation of his ticket in economy class. The email with the confirmation of the upgrade and the original ticket must be presented upon checkin at the Avianca counter.
The offer limit per passenger is 1 (one). The offer is unique, made considering all the passengers that are part of it. In these cases you can not make individual bids. The same consideration is taken into account at the moment of acceptance of the offer, since it will only be possible to be accepted if there is availability for all passengers in the reservation, otherwise the offer is refused.
The bid made by the passenger, includes all applicable taxes.
The bid acceptance priority is of economic factor and by reserve eligibility criteria described in that document.
For safety reasons, passengers with pets in the cabin, animals with emotional support, accompanied by an infant (0 to 2 years), medical services or accompaniment, will not be able to access the executive cabin.
Once the confirmed upgrade is made and the passenger is unable to make the trip in the executive cabin due to flight cancellations, equipment changes or force majeure, he may request the return of the amount paid for the use through the AVIANCA call center.
The purchase of an executive cabin upgrade is neither exchangeable nor endorsable nor can it be transferred.
Once you have made the offer for an upgrade the passenger automatically accepts the terms and conditions herein.
